Born in Los Angeles, and raised in the south, Cesar creates a mix of wheel thrown and sculptural ceramic work. This work revolves around cultural exploration, family history, and advocacy for his community. Finding a historical link between his family and clay was a key point in a material focus of clay that has led to a more intentional way of making. His family’s journey has moved Cesar to adapt a work ethic that continually pushes limits within his work with technique and concept.

With a relentless work ethic and a commitment to growth, Cesar continues to explore new concepts and push the boundaries of his artistic practice. Through his art, he seeks to create dialogue, inspire change, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage that shapes his identity.

As a first generation college graduate, Cesar received a BFA from Middle Tennessee State University. He’s gone on to assist multiple artists in Nashville while also working as an Art Handler.

He’s currently an instructor at Buchanan Arts, where his studio space is also located.
